For the past 20 years the Amsterdam-based high fashion-designer Mart Visser has been working on his own signature with his Haute Couture-collection. He has proven to be very successful in giving Haute Couture a more modern, though sophisticated look.
After graduating from the Montaigne Fashion Academy in Amsterdam (now called Amsterdam Fashion Institute), Mart Visser was invited to the famous Saga International Design Centre in Copenhagen for a post-academic course (masterclass). While and shortly after his studies he assisted Frans Molenaar in Amsterdam, as well as Anne Klein and Koos van den Akker in New York for quite some time. He then took on the challenge to live his own dream at the fairly young age of 25, and turned out to be an instant success when a famous Dutch artist appeared at a celebrity-event completely dressed in one of his first creations. From there the only way was up, and up.
As a fashion-designer Mart Visser positions himself amongst the very few designers who were able to create their very own, distinctive style. Twice a year Mart Visser presents his latest couture-collection, for which he relies on his own statues of femininity. He simply puts women on a stand and originally combines timeless elegance with his critical eye for detail and high quality fabrics in well chosen, true, colours. He is known for always providing women with this extra touch of sexappeal, and makes sure to combine this with the highest standards for manufacturing his creations. Classic craftsmanship, exclusive use of top-quality materials and the ultimate cut he naturally combines with the best possible ways of manufacturing all his distinctive designs. Traditional, though outspoken.
Mart Visser and his ever expanding team of employees have turned the designers label into what it is today: a well esteemed brand with an international outlook on fashion, though with a ever-stylish and very elegant, feminine signature. ‘True design, well designed’.
Ever since 2006 he has been painting faces in his spare time and mostly while visiting their holiday house in the south of France. In November 2013 Visser was asked to do a documentary about his private life and so the Dutch audience get to see his artwork for the first time. After this documentary was broadcasted on television the crowd was hooked; the people love his paintings and several gallery’s around the globe want to show his work.
