26 & 27 SEPTEMBER
The project C3 provides a platform for creativity, knowledge and research. A project in which the visions of Made2Measure (Maastricht University), Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts & Design (MAFAD), Forza Fashion House Maastricht (FFH), London College of Fashion (LCF) and 6 different designers connect, collaborate and create. The aim is to stimulate the creative industries within the city of Maastricht, and to build a lasting relationship with creative minds and entrepreneurs around the world.
During the first project of C3 designers from LCF and FFH/FASHIONCLASH worked in pairs on the subject Diversity and were supervised by a team of LCF and FFH/FASHIONCLASH.
On Tuesday afternoon, 27th September, the drawings, prototypes, designs, and a visual presentation were presented to a panel of judges, which was open to the public as well. The jury included Carolyn Mair (LCF), Branko Popovic (FFH/ FASHIONCLASH) and Marcel van Kan (MAFAD)
Forza Fashion House/FASHIONCLASH: "The C3:Diversity project that took place just over a period of two days proved the importance and relevance of creative encounters. The project enables designers not only to collaborate but also to research new ideas that could contribute to a sustainable development of the fashion industry, their personal development but most of al to a better well being. That is exactly what our mission is, to organize encounters that will challenge fashion with aim to contribute to a better world. The C3:Diversity Pitch presentation was a display of not only new ideas but also new friendships. All participants reflected that the process of the collaboration is as important as the end result and expressed their desire to continue. The conclusion of the project is basically that this is just the beginning."
Hayley Morgan, LCF: "The project truly demonstrated diversity rooted in creativity, and brought together individuals from different backgrounds creating lasting friendships."
The design participants from the London College of Fashion (LCF) have been selected based on their background in fashion design. The design participants from Maastricht (mostly graduates of Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts & Design – MAFAD) have been selected based on their background in fashion design.

Carmen: "Not only the title of the project was diversity, but also the project itself was all about divergent thinking in creative processes and group settings. Developing a large number and variety of novel and useful and unusual ideas in the concept developing phase was a very enriching and fruitful experience. Working together my design Partner Maarten van Mullen and of course the Forza Fashion House was an amazing experience, especially in terms of inspiration, implementation of our concept idea. As Maarten and me we already started finishing our sentences at the second day, I believe I am allowed to speak on behalf of us both: This project applied psychological science within the context of fashion to make a positive difference through increasing knowledge, improving performance and enhancing well-being. I was very pleased of how well our individual characteristics and the group characteristics assembled and I very much hope that this collaboration will be continued."
Bella: "This project has embodied the essence of collaboration for me in a new and eye opening way. Working with another creative, which I was fortunate to have instantaneous chemistry with, and in such a limited period of time gas really kept me present and open. It was liberating, stimulating, inspiring, educational and fun. I would recommend this as a creative exercise for any designer."
Ebby: "When we met in Maastricht you could feel the vibe in the whole group. How nice and dynamic to be with all these designers with different backgrounds, experiences and stories. Right from the beginning there was this energy of creation. During the process I found the magic of me and Bella working together. Our collaboration was such an organic process. Without being more or less than the other, without trying to prove oneself, without judgment. And isn’t it this way of working that gives the most interesting and fulfilling result? And following up on that question, is the result important? Is the result a by-product and is the process just as important? Time flew by these past two days. And inspirational days it were!"
Maarten:"For me this was a really exciting project where we not only could share ideas and thoughts about what fashion should be and shouldn’t be, but also to create connections and friendships for the future. I really enjoyed being part of this project and been able to connection with the other designers. Hopefully there will be new and exciting colleborations in the (near) future!”
Victoria:"For me the Project C3 was an amazing opportunity to work with different personalities not only from Maastricht and London but from all over the world. I feel honoured that I have been part of this great experience and I am sure we will create other projects in the future!"
